Mildebrath, Herbert O. (17 December 1894 – 4 May 1980)
Herbert O. Mildebrath, 85, a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home, passed
away in Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May 4, after a brief illness.
Mildebrath was born on December 17, 1894, in Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Mildebrath. At one year of age, he came with his parents to Clark County, where
he received his education. He then farmed in the Town of Washburn for a few
years. then moved to Chicago, where he worked for International Harvester until
1938. It was during this time, that he married Gertrude Kelly in July 27, 1929,
Chicago ceremonies. Mildebrath then moved back to the Town of Washburn and
farmed there until retiring in 1961. He moved to the city of Neillsville several
years ago.
Surviving him is one daughter, Mrs. Rita Bendixon, Catawba; one sister, Mrs.
Helen Neubecker, Chicago; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his wife (July 22, 1965), two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from the Gesche Funeral Home in
Neillsville with burial being made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Rev.
William Noble of the United Methodist Church officiated.
