Gress, Charlotte Jeanette (6 September 1924 – 19 November 2021)
Charlotte J. Gress, 97, of Neillsville, died on Friday, November 19, 2021, at
the Neillsville Retirement Community.
Charlotte Jeanette Martens was born on September 6, 1924, in Neillsville, the
daughter of John and Frieda (Henchen) Martens. She graduated from Neillsville
High School. On April 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to Donald Anthony
Gress in Neillsville. They had 6 children. Charlotte’s greatest joy in life was
raising her family and being a mom. She will be remembered as a wonderful
mother. She was very artistic and loved to paint and enjoyed taking painting
classes. Many wonderful memories were made going on camping trips and going to
their cottage and fishing. She loved to fish and took many fishing trips to
Canada. As the kids moved in their own directions Charlotte and Donald loved
traveling together to visit them. Charlotte was a member of the United Church of
Christ and their ladies group.
She is survived by her children: Steve Gress of Black River Falls, Sally Schmid
of Sharpsburg, GA, Rebecca (Joe) Konkel of Prescott, AZ, Monte (Virginia) Gress
of Neillsville and Joel (Connie) Gress of Wichita, KS, 6 grandchildren and 5
great-grandchildren. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, a son, Bradley and siblings, Isabelle and Donald.
A private family service will be held.
