Westaby, Vickie A. (6 April 1962 – 17 November 2021)
Vickie Ann (Chesbrough) Westaby of Thorp, born April 6, 1962, in Sandstone, MN
has gone to be with her Heavenly Father on 11-17-21.
Vickie is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Keith Westaby, and three
sons. Ryan (Anna) Westaby, Adam (Grace) Westaby, and Kyle (Lisa) Westaby. She is
also survived by her eight grandchildren, Gavin, Sadie, Shiloh, Emilia, Wyatt,
Gemma, Zander, and Madeline, who were blessed to spend many fun days with their
loving “Grammy”. Finally, she is survived by her father, Ed Chesbrough, brother,
Tim Chesbrough, sisters, Sandy (Dwight) Dietz, Cindy Chesbrough, Faith (Terry)
Youngberg, and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Vickie is preceded in death by her dear twin, Rickie Chesbrough, who passed away
9 months ago. She is also preceded in death by her mother, Kate Hanes, and
Father-in-law, Marlin Westaby.
Vickie’s heart for children led her to lead the children’s programs at Community
Alliance Church in Withee where she coordinated and served at Vacation Bible
School, Children’s Church, Sunday School, the Christmas Program, and the
Wednesday night children’s program she co-created: Growing in Grace. The
children will miss her creative lessons, fun-loving attitude, and mostly, her
love.
Vickie’s love of all things Christmas produced many holiday traditions and
memories that her family will cherish until the joyous day we see her again. Her
“Christmas in July” party, decorating her Christmas tree on Thanksgiving night,
Christmas music year-round, and love of Christmas movies (especially Hallmark
Christmas movies), are just a small sampling of the cheerful ways she celebrated
the holiday throughout the year.
Though we may be tempted to say that she is ‘gone too soon,’ we know God’s time
is the right time, even though her absence breaks our hearts. We were blessed to
have her in our lives and are grateful for each day, each hour, and each minute
we were able to spend with her during her time on earth. To quote her friend,
“To know Vickie, was to get a glimpse of the love and care of God himself.”
A celebration of life will be held at Community Alliance Church in Withee on
Saturday, December 4, 2021, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the celebration at
11:00 a.m. A light luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations to the Growing in Grace program at
Community Alliance Church.
