Frey, Cala Dawn (4 March 1946 – 16 November 2021)
Cala D. Frey, age 75, of Dorchester, passed away at the Aspirus Medford Hospital
on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
Cala was born on March 4, 1946, the daughter of Vaner and Anna (Stabnow)
Lindgren in rural Owen. She attended Owen Schools and was a 1964 graduate of
Owen-Withee High School. After high school Cala moved to Chicago and worked at a
bakery there, that is when she met Kenneth Frey, they were united in marriage on
June 11, 1966, at the Alliance Church in Owen. He preceded her in death on April
5, 2010. Together they lived in Chicago for three years moving to Owen in 1969
and later moving to the Frey family farm in November 1980. They moved to
Dorchester in 2001. Cala was a CNA from 1993 to 2014.
Cala is survived by her children: Paul (Virginia) Frey of Tomah, Andy (Bobbie
Jo) Frey of Alma Center and DeAnna (Matt) Turner of Owen, grandchildren: James,
Daniel, Amanda, Michael, Jacob, Nathanael, Callie, Dylan, Emily, Felicity, Gage,
Hunter, Brandon, Seth, Ryan, Hannah, Natalie, Renee and Emma,
great-grandchildren: Bear, Everly, Garner and Taavi. She is further survived by
her sister: Karen Lampi of Abbotsford and a brother: Peter Lindgren of
Rhinelander. Cala is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Kenneth, sister:
Gwen Besnett, and brothers: Bernard, Ronald, Jerry and Tommy Lindgren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at
the Community Alliance Church in Withee. Pastor Andy Davis will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Visitation with
family and friends will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday
at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the
arrangements.
