The Rev. Gary Clark presided at the Saturday late afternoon, June 7, wedding for Kim M. Gutenberger and Rick L. Nelson held at the Neillsville United Church of Christ. Parents of the couple are Fred Gutenberger, of Freeport, Ill., and Dorothy Gutenberger, Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nelson, Racine. The parents of the bride presented her to the altar.

The couple will make their home at 124 East Fifth St., Neillsville. The new Mrs. Nelson is a 1980 graduate of Neillsville High School and is employed by the Neillsville Country Club. The groom served with the U.S. Army and is presently employed by Opelt Brothers.

In the wedding service, Wanda Gutenberger, A sister of the bride from Freeport, was maid of honor. She was joined by Kitty Nelson, the groom’s sister from Racine; Lilly Friedberg, a friend from Neillsville; and Karen Gutenberger, a sister from Neillsville.

Groomsmen were all from Racine. They included Joe Richert, bestman and friend of the groom; Terry Nelson and Don Nelson, the groom’s brothers; and Mike Mertins, a friend. Gary Gutenberger, the bride’s brother, and Butch Opelt, a friend of the groom, and both from Neillsville served as ushers.

“We’ve Only Just Begun” and “You Light Up My Life” were the musical selections offered by Peggy Hagen.

The bride was attired in a gown featuring lace and bed trim, long sleeves, ruffled neckline, fingertip veil and trailing train. She carried a bouquet of peach carnations, roses, daisies and baby’s breath. The bridesmaids wore peach-colored, sleeveless gowns, featuring ruffles that cascaded down the back of the gown and matching wide-brimmed hats. They carried bouquets of peach carnations, daisies and baby’s breath.

The groom wore a white tuxedo and sported a peach-colored carnation. Groomsmen were attired in brown tuxedos and wore white carnations tipped in a peach color.

Following the wedding service, a reception was held in the Neillsville American Legion Hall. Prenuptial events included showers hosted by Mrs. Walter Nelson in late April and a mid-May event hosted by Bev. Hediger.
