Lee, Edward George (4 December 1946 – 9 December 2021) With Flag

Edward George Lee, 75, of Thorp, died Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital-Stanley.

He was born December 4, 1946, to the late Albert and Clara (Nelson) Lee. Ed grew up in the area, attended Thorp High School, and graduated in 1965. Ed entered the Navy and served on the USS Randolph and USS Yorktown and on July 1st, 1982, he married the love of his life Carol Zaitz.

Ed worked for Caterpillar as a mechanic for many years before moving back to the Thorp area. Ed then worked for Weathershield in Medford until his retirement. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, sharing stories and spending time with his grandkids. He was also a member of the Thorp Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol, his children, Melissa CoxWelch of Chetek, Sara (Shawn) Johnson of Illinois, Julie (Terry) Lee of Ladysmith, 5 grandchildren Courtney, Jonathan, Hannah, Erica, and Taylor, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings Bernard Lee and Glenn (Sonja) Lee both of Duluth, Elaine Suda of Thorp, a sister-in-law Patricia Lee of Duluth and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Christine Rudy and his brother John.

A Military graveside service will be held at 1 P.M. at the Eidsvold Cemetery-rural Stanley.
