Mrs. Eugene Milligan of Stanley has retired from the teaching profession after
thirty-two years.
She was very pleasantly surprised at the Thorp High School Commencement
Exercises on May 29, 1974, when she was presented with a special plaque upon
which was inscribed “in recognition and appreciation of twenty-five years of
loyal service to the students of the Thorp Elementary School.” The presentation
of the plaque was made by Mr. Corwin Guell, along with complimentary remarks and
a bond given on behalf of his family.
Mrs. Milligan was feted at parties by the children, the G.A.A., and the
teachers. A native of Stanley, she was born Edna Oas, the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Oas, and received her education in the public school here. She
taught several years in the rural school in this area prior to the births of her
two children, Kirk Miligan of Big Bend and Mrs. Dale (Sandy) Johnson of Madison.
