The 45th FFA Convention was held June 10, 11, and 12, 1974 at the Baptist Assembly, Green Lake, Wisconsin. Greg Palmer and Ray Pszeniczny attended the convention as delegates from the Thorp FFA Chapter.

At the convention many FFA chapters and FFA members received awards for their participation in FFA activities. Two Thorp FFA members received State Farmer Degree Award. They are Joel Grajkowski, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Grajkowski, and Richard Soborowicz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Soborowicz. Only two percent of the FFA members in the state are eligible to receive the State Farmer Degree. To receive the award, members must have an outstanding FFA program in the area of leadership, scholarship, arming program and participation in FFA activities.
