Jesse Heslip Joins Press Team (Reporter - 2021)
By Valorie Brecht
The Clark County Press is happy to introduce Jesse Heslip as its new full-time
reporter.
Heslip started last week and some of his work will appear in this week’s issue.
He is excited to apply his passion for writing for covering local news, sports,
community events and other happenings.
“Reading has always been something I enjoy doing. I’d say a love of writing is a
side effect of my love of reading; they kind of go hand in hand,” Heslip wrote
in an email.
“Deciding at this stage of the game to pursue a new career in journalism has
many facets; the one that sticks out to me is I look forward to reporting
outside of the oft-perceived ‘echo chamber’ in media while learning the ins and
outs of the industry on a local level,” he added.
Heslip does not have a journalism background, but felt it was the right time to
turn the page to a new chapter and take on a new challenge.
“It has kind of been one of the things in my life I have regretted not pursuing,
and when an opportunity presents itself, you have to strike while the iron’s
hot. Luckily for me, the timing was perfect, and I am happy to be part of the
team,” he said.
“I look forward to working towards being the change I always thought I should
see in media and reporting while giving the readers an honest take and a fresh
set of eyes on local news… I feel the reader deserves to hear an honest,
non-biased take.”
Heslip grew up in Michigan and has lived in central Wisconsin on and off for
almost 10 years. He’s been in Clark County since early 2020.
Jesse Heslip, shown here with his daughter, Kahli, is looking forward to
bringing local news to readers as a reporter for The Clark County Press.

“I am a proud father currently living in Loyal with my daughter Kahli. We enjoy
spending time with family and friends, arts and crafts, playing harmonic and
going to local events year-round.”
“In my free-time I enjoy golfing, fishing and exploring the many beautiful
destinations in Wisconsin. I like to keep up with politics and sports and have
been participating in fantasy football since around 2011.”
Heslip will be out and about at community events, so feel free to say ‘hi’ if
you see him. He also welcomes news tips and story ideas. He can be reached at
