Arvin L. Gade, 92, of Greenwood, passed away at The Waterford of Colby, in Colby, on Monday, December 13, 2021.

Arvin Lewis Gade was born on September 26, 1929, in Loganville, the son of Paul W. and Esther M. (Schultz) Gade. He was raised on the family farm, received his education in the Loganville area, and graduated from Lime Ridge High School in 1947. After high school, he farmed with his dad until entering the U.S. Army on December 8, 1952, where he served as a medic. After his honorable discharge on November 22, 1954, Arvin returned home and continued farming with his dad. He was united in marriage to Lorna M. O'Connor on December 10, 1955, at the First Methodist Church in Reedsburg, and they resided in Lime Ridge. Arvin attended a short course in Madison for artificial insemination and began working for Midwest Breeders. In September of 1960, they moved to Greenwood. He continued working for Midwest Breeders, which later became Tri-State Breeders and then Accelerated Genetics, until his retirement in 1991 after 32 years with the company.

His wife, Lorna, passed away on April 12, 1998. Arvin continued living in Greenwood until moving to The Waterford of Colby in September 2021. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and a member of the Greenwood American Legion for 61 years. Arvin had many interests, but especially loved camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by two daughters: Pamela Schultz of Marshfield, Patti (Lon) Knoll of Greenwood; five grandchildren: Jessica (Billy) Geiger of Marshfield, Jamie (Tiana) Schultz of Spencer, Amanda Lepak of Rudolf, Taylor (Jena) Gardner of Pittsville, Hank Knoll of Eau Claire; nine great-grandchildren: Allison, Reid, Avery, Grady, Parker, Haddie, Jordyn, Jayla and Cole; other relatives and friends.

Arvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorna; one daughter, Peggy Gardner in 2000; and one sister, Phyllis Richert, in 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Rev. Elizabeth Bier will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Hank Knoll, Billy Geiger, Reid Geiger, Jamie Schultz, Taylor Gardner, Allison Geiger, Jessica Geiger, and Amanda Lepak. Military rites will be conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post #238. Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 12 p.m. until time of service.
