Arthur Guy Steele Jr. was born February 5, 1903 to Arthur and Anna (Barrett) Steele in the village of Thorp. He lived in Reseburg, Curtiss, and Greenwood. He worked several years for Bert and Dean Hubbard on the farm, in Portland, Oregon, and for the city of Thorp until he went to the Bryan Home in Neillsville. The past year he has been in the Neillsville Nursing Home, where he was at the time of his death July 2, 1974 at the age of 71 years.

Artie attended school at Breezy Hill and Thorp High School. He had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Ralph, Paul, Ernest and Roger. Surviving are 3 sisters, Maud, Mrs. Charles Frinack Sr. of Thorp, Nina, Mrs. Otto Darge of Solon Springs, and Ruth, Mrs. John Zimmer of Greenwood, and several nieces and nephews.

Artie was a great lover of nature and an avid sportsman. He was a kind and good brother, uncle and friend.

Rev. David L. Fuller officiated at the service held Friday at 1:30 in the United Methodist Church in Thorp. Candace Horn, accompanied by Mrs. Chester Johnson, sang “Rock of Ages” and “How Great Thou Art”. Pallbearers were nephews and great-nephews: Charles Frinack Jr., Thorp, Bob Brunett, South Dakota, Ed Alger, Thorp, Ennis Goss of Stoddard, Bill Alger, Chippewa Falls, and Roger Alger of Lublin. The pain of the world is forever over. How happy today you must be, to seek refuge with your Jesus, and your loved ones again you see.

We’ll miss you Artie and we’ll remember – Our love for you and yours for me.
