Hickman, John (13 Oct 1886 – 5 Jul 1974)
Funeral services were conducted by Father John Puerner at St. Bernard’s Church
on Tuesday, July 9, 1974 at 10 a.m. Mass for John Hickman, who passed away
Friday, July 5, 1974 at St. Anne’s Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, after a short
illness.
John was born to Joseph and Frances Hickman on October 13, 1886 at School Hill,
Wisconsin. At the age of 8 he moved with his parents, to Thorp, Wisconsin, where
they were engaged in farming in the town of Reseburg. He spent his early youth
working in logging camps.
He was united in marriage to Mary Bradle on September 10, 1912. Mary preceded
him in death on September 23, 1973. John spent his early married life on a farm
in the town of Reseburg. After he retired from farming he moved to the city of
Thorp, where he worked for the Thorp Produce and the O and N. Lumber Co. until
he retired. He spent all his remaining days in Thorp until the death of his
wife. He then made his home with his daughter and son-in-law in the city of
Chicago.
Surviving are his only daughter, Mrs. Frances (Alma) Bujalski of Chicago; one
grandson, John (Janet) Bujalski, and two great-grandchildren, Julie and
Jennifer; two nieces one nephew and three cousins.
He was preceded in death by Mary, his wife, one brother and two sisters.
Pallbearers were Jack Borowick, Fred Hedler, Frank Schmidt, George Schmidt,
Raymond Stroming and Frank Wadzinski. Burial was at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
