Mr. and Mrs. Wallace L. Johnson, South Range, Wisconsin, announce the engagement
of their daughter, JoAnn Marla, to Francis Patrick Milligan, son of Mrs. Mayme
Milligan, Thorp.
The future bride graduated from Superior Senior High and attended Indianhead
Technical Institute, and is presently employed as a bank teller at the Community
Bank and Trust Co.
Francis graduated from Thorp High School and Superior State University, and is
presently employed as an insurance manager with the home office located in Fond
du Lac.
A September 28, 1974 wedding is being planned at First Presbyterian Church,
Superior.

Miss JoAnn Marla Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace L. Johnson, South
Range, Superior, became the bride of Francis Patrick Milligan, son of Mrs. Mayme
Milligan, Thorp, on Saturday, September 28, 1974 at First Presbyterian Church,
Superior. Rev. H. Duane Aslyn and Rev. Fr. Ambrose Blenker performed the 3:30
p.m. Ecumenical marriage ceremony. Mrs. Helen Hankey was organist and Barry
Bratland was vocalist. Palm Trees and candelabra with 7 candles adorned the
altar for the ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father wore a full length gown of shimmering
sata peau, with fitted Josepine bodice of imported lace accented the sheer yoke
encircling the high mandarin collar and full lantern sleeves gathered to wide
angle cuffs at the wrists. Minute gathers added fullness to the A-line skirt
falling to meet the deep hemline flounce with a full chapel train. Her bridal
veil was of misty silk illusion caught to a Juliet hat accented with streamers
of satin ribbons. She carried a bouquet of red roses, stephanotis, candy striped
carnations, baby’s breath and red and white streamers in a cascade arrangement.
Georgiana Hoem was her sister’s matron of honor was Miss Candace Nygard, and
bridesmaids were: Miss Christine Johnson, friend, Mrs. Judi Beckman, sister of
the groom, Mrs. Joyce Bickford, sister of the bride, and Miss Susan Haver,
friend of the bride. Flower girl was Sara Johnson, niece of the bride. The maid
and matron of honor were in Danube Blue, and the bridesmaids in hot pink
sleeveless gown of polyester knit, which were highlighted by a demure neckline,
edged with crocheted lace. Matching hooded bolero jackets with long tapered
sleeves complemented the dresses.
Attending the groom was Gerald McCarthy as best man, and groomsmen were: Joe
Slota, Dennis VanMassenhove, Joel Beckman, Warren Irle, Dean Johnson and David
Ebben. Ushers were Gary Heikkinen and James Langham. The bride’s mother viewed
her daughter’s wedding in a polyester knit smoke blue dres with white
accessories and a corsage of roses, carnations and stephanotis. The groom’s
mother was attired in a coral shimmering polyester, with silver metallic strips
and neckline, sleeves and waist trimmed with shining beaded lace.
A dinner for 250 guests was held at the Belgian Club, Superior.
The bride attended Superior Senior High School and Indianhead Tech Institute.
The groom attended Thorp High School, University of Wisconsin, Superior, and is
with Combined Insurance Company of Wisconsin.
After a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, they are making their home at 1905 John
Ave., Superior.
