Asselin, Phyllis Kaye (10 Aug 1974)
The Rev. Patrick Brennan of Saint Huber’ts Church performed the wedding ceremony
for Miss Phyllis Kaye Asselin and James Frederick Pickett in Hoffman Estates,
Illinois on Saturday, August 10, 1974 at 11 a.m.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Lyle F. Asselin, Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs.
W. Gene Pickett, Greentown, Indiana.
Mrs. Jean Ann Cannon, Denver, Colorado, sister of the groom, was matron of
honor. Bridesmaids were friends of the bride. They were Mrs. Sandra Menze,
Glendale Heights, Illinois, Patricia Harris, Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and
Barbara Grom, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Thomas Asselin, Thorp, was best man. Groomsmen were Gary Grom, Arlington
Heights, Illinois, Thomas Harris, Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and Kenneth Cannon,
Denver, Colorado, and ushers were Fred Cook East Lansing, Michigan and Jay
White, Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
The bride, escorted down the aisle by her father, wore a Quiana nylon jersey
floor length gown that had a chapel train and a high bodice. Fanning out from
the mandarin collar was a circlet of pearls and lace. The pearls were repeated
on her simple Juliet cap, from which the large bouffant veil of silk illusion
was suspended. Her flowers were a cascade of gardenias, white roses, stephanotis
and baby’s breath. The bridesmaids and matron of honor wore mint green jersey
gowns with high mandarin collars and softly flowing skirts. Their large floppy
brimmed hats were of mint green lace and the crowns were covered with real pink
rosebuds and white carnations. Each carried a nosegay of pink and white
rosebuds, carnations and baby’s breath.
The groom was dressed in a white tuxedo with black lapels and piping around the
coat and pockets. The groomsmen and ushers were dressed in white coats and black
tuxedo trousers with mint green ruffled shirts.
A luncheon reception and dance followed the ceremony at the Chateau Louse in
West Dundee, Illinois.
Following a wedding trip to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the couple will be at home
at 1300 Cambia Drive, Schaumburg, Illinois.
