Election of Thomas E. Wilshire as present and chief executive officer of ITT Thorp Corporation was announce this past week. Wilshire succeeds Harvey V. Mason, who has been appointed vice chairman and treasurer of ITT Financial Corporation, the parent of ITT Thorp.

Wilshire previously was president of Funding Systems Corporation, a leasing company with office throughout the U.S., specializing in leasing of general equipment. Prior to that Wilshire was executive vice president of Western Pennsylvania National Bank, now Equibank, with assets over $1.5 billion and located in Pittsburgh.

Mason began his Thorp career as a staff member in Wausau, Wisconsin in 1947. He was elected assistant vice president in 1963, became a member of the board of directors in 1965, and served as executive vice president and director of operations before becoming president of the company.

A Manitowoc, Wisconsin native, Mason is a member of the board of directors and the executive committee of the National Consumer Finance Association. He is a past president and former member of the board of directors of the Wisconsin Consumer Finance Association. Mason also served as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Wisconsin State Banking Department for sales finance companies.

ITT Thorp Corporation, a wholly own subsidiary of ITT Financial Corporation, parent organization for the consumer and industrial finance activities of International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation that operations 172 consumer finance offices throughout the Midwest, and through subsidiaries is active in arm and industrial auction management and real estate sales.
