Young, Norbert Thomas (19 June 1922 - 31 December 2021)
Norbert Young, age 99, of Auburndale, entered the presence of his Lord on
Friday, December 31, 2021, at Colonial Manor in Wausau.
Norbert Thomas Young was born on June 19, 1922, in the Town of Green Valley,
Marathon County, WI to Clarence and Fae (Goodell) Young. He received Christ as
his personal Savior at the age of 8. Pastor Gilles gave the salvation message
and Norbert went forward when the invitation was given at the end of the
service. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1941. On August 28, 1948, he
was united in marriage to Edna Mae Davis in Chili. He was a life-long member of
Community Bible Church of Stratford. Norbert farmed his family’s dairy farm in
the Town of Green Valley alongside his father and later, his son. He will be
missed by the many neighbors with whom he visited on his daily Gator rides.
He is lovingly survived by seven of his eight (two, and a half dozen) children:
Shirley (Craig) Preston of Weatherford, TX; Esther (Larry) Borchardt of Eau
Claire; Robert (Joyce) Young of Lakeville, MN; Charles (Lynda) Young, Arthur
(Laurie) Young, Ruth (Brian) Krause all of Auburndale; Susan (Chris) Spindler of
Stratford. Daughter-in-law, Susan Young of Mosinee also survives. He is further
survived by 28 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren so far, as well as his
sister, L. Vivian Davis of Highland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Edna Mae in 2005, his eldest son,
Thomas, his brother, Norris, and great-granddaughter, Juliet Lundeen.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at
Community Bible Church in Stratford. The family will be available to greet
visitors at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield, after the service.
Memorials given in Norbert’s honor will benefit Forest Springs in Westboro, WI
where he and Edna Mae spent many Labor Day weekends with their children and
grandchildren, as well as missionaries, Vern and Denise Johnson. Denise Johnson
was the sister of Pam Marzinski whom Norbert knew from Community Bible Church.
They serve with Ethnos 360 in West Africa.
