Hanson, Gloria Jean (6 August 1949 – I January 2022)
Gloria J. Hanson, 72, of Thorp, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at
Aspirus Stanley Hospital in Stanley.
Gloria Jean Hanson was born on August 6, 1949, at Victory Hospital, in Stanley,
the daughter of Joseph C. and Florence L. (Tomczak) Hanson. As a young child,
her family moved to Grafton, where she was raised and received her education,
graduating from Grafton High School in 1967. After high school, Gloria moved to
Glenview, IL where she held various jobs before becoming employed at Bally's
Fitness in their day care center for more than 10 years. She moved to Thorp in
2008 after her mother's death and resided there until the time of her death.
She had many interests, but especially enjoyed writing letters, talking on the
phone, solving crossword puzzles, coloring, and crafting. Gloria was a member of
St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic
Women.
She is survived by two children: Brian Hanson of Pana, IL and Jill Hanson of
Chicago, IL; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister: Patty
Hanson-Kobierski of Lebanon, TN; one niece, Kerry Gallagher, of Lebanon, TN;
other relatives and friends.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, David Hanson; and one
niece, Katie Gallagher.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at St.
Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, with Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu
officiating. Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Friday at All Saints Catholic
Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday,
from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
