Young, Zettie (19 February 1891 – 24 June 1980)
A former rural teacher in Clark County and Neillsville and York and Willard
resident, Zettie R. Young, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Hospital on June
24 at the age of 89. She was a resident of Rt. 2 Neillsville, prior to her
death.
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, June 27, from the Neillsville
United Methodist Church with burial made in the City Cemetery. The Rev. William
Noble officiated with the Gesche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Halon Davis, Herb Fensom, Claire Mrotek, William Schaeffner, Calvin Young and
Elliot Hollister served as pallbearers. Iris Musil and Cora Noble offered
musical selections.
The deceased was born on February 19, 1891, in Richland County to Joseph and
Nettie (Deets) Eysnogle. She was educated in Richland and Clark Counties and
then taught rural schools in those counties for eleven years.
On October 21, 1922, she married James V. Young in Neillsville ceremonies. The
couple then farmed in Taylor County and in the Town of York in Clark County
until 1945. Then they moved to Willard, residing there for twelve years. In
1957, the Youngs retired and moved to a cottage on Lake Arbutus, where she made
her home until death. She spent her winters in Arizona and summered in the
Hatfield area. She was a member of the Neillsville United Methodist Church.
Surviving her are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
husband (1967) and three sisters.
Attending services from out-of-town were Dr./Mrs. J.E. Hollister, Greenville,
Ill.; Mr./Mrs. C.A. Mrotek, Stewartville, Ill.; Mr./Mrs. Halon Davis, McHenry,
Ill.; Wanda Hedding and Mr./Mrs. W.C. Schaeffner, of Minneapolis; Mr./Mrs.
Gaylord Deets & Beulah Deets, of Bloom City; Gilford, Wilfred and Marlyn Moser
and Lloyd Schoak, of Richland Center; Rudy Dill, Velma Overby and Rosella Young,
of Black River Falls; and Mr./Mrs. Joe Davis, Stevens Point.
