Hilgert, John (19 Sep 1900 – 15 Oct 1974)
John Hilgert, 74, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 15,1974. Funeral
services were held at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 18, with
Father Brockman officiating at the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was made in the
East Thorp Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Norman Galep, Adolph Koltis, Albert Hilgert, George Burzinski
Jr., Mike Lockbaum and Charles Frinack Jr.
Mr. Hilgert, a retired farmer, was born September 19, 1900 at Thorp. On December
11, 1928 he was united in marriage to Laura Bastian at Stanley, Wisconsin.
Surviving are his wife, Laura; three daughters, (Dorothy) Mrs. George H. Kuegel
and (Evelyn) Mrs. James E. Thomas, both of Jacksonville, N.C., (Margaret) Mrs.
Will Erhardt of Orono, Maine; two sisters, (Leona) Mrs. George Biddle of
Greenwood, and (Anna) Mrs. Fred Robinson, Artesia, California.
He was preceded in death by one son, Frank B. Hilgert; his parents, Peter and
Magdalene Hilgert; one brother, Joe Hilgert, and one sister (Clara) Mrs. Frank
Harrison.
