Xiong, Mai Lou (28 June 1980)
The home of Teng Vang, 23 Court St., Neillsville, was the site of the Saturday,
June 28, sharing of wedding vows between Teng Vang and Mai Lor Xiong of
Appleton.
Officiating at the service was the Rev. Joseph Henseler of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church in Neillsville. Witnessing the vows were Nancy Backaus and Joanne
Tibbett, both of Neillsville.
Invited to the private services were members of St. Mary’s parish who assisted
in the resettlement of the Laotian family into the area. These included the
Richard Backaus family, the Richard Tibbett family, the Vern Altman family, the
James Fennessy family, Angie Schultz and Dorothy Dustin. Also present were
Teng’s and Mai Lor’s families.
Following the ceremonies and the opening of gifts, an ice cream and cake
reception was hosted by Angie Schultz. Joanne Tibbett furnished the honored
couple with bridal clothes.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Teng Vang will reside in Neillsville. Joining the family
are Mai Lor’s three children from a previous marriage, Nou Lee, 5, Tou Lee, 3,
and Neng Lee, 1.
Teng and his family have resided in Neillsville since last fall after arriving
from Laos. They were among the millions of refugees settling in the United
States from the Indochina area.
