Andersen, Sam K. (1 Nov 1890 – 5 Jan 1977)
Sam K. Andersen, 86, Owen, died at 10 a.m. Thursday at his residence in the
Sunshine Apartments, where he had been making his home with his daughter Helga.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8 at Nazareth Lutheran Church
in Withee, with Rev. Lloyd Yaggie, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the
Nazareth Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Andersen was born November 1, 1890 in Ringive, Denmark, and came to the
United States in 1909. He married the former Katherine Jacobsen on January 24,
1915, at Withee. She died August 12, 1947. Since her death, he had been residing
with his daughter.
He learned the shoemaking trade in Denmark, and upon coming to the United States
he worked at the Weinberger Shoe Factory at Chippewa Falls. He had worked for
the John S. Owen Lumber Company in Owen, and from 1914 until his retirement, he
was engaged in farming. He also had a milk route in the Owen-Withee area and was
a school bus driver for the Owen School System.
Survivors include a son, Einer, Mauston; two daughters, Mrs. Agnes Jones,
Stevens Point, and Miss Helga Andersen, Owen, and six grandchildren.
He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and served as a board member for a
number of years.
Pallbearers were: John, Robert, James and Gary Andersen, Jim Jones and Sigurd
Sorensen.
