Lampsa, Carol M. (6 Oct 1937 – 15 Jan 2022)
Carol M. Lampsa, 84, Marshfield, formerly of Loyal, passed away at Marshfield
Medical Center on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022. A memorial service for Carol will be
held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 21, at the Loyal United Methodist Church. Rev.
Kathy Jury will officiate, and burial will follow in the Loyal Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of
service.
Carol Mary Swattler was born on Oct. 6, 1937, in Pulaski, the daughter of Harry
J. and Isabel B. (nee Czarapata) Swattler. She was raised and received her
education in Pulaski, graduating from Pulaski High School in 1955. She met her
future husband, Lawrence V. Lampsa, in Milwaukee, and they were united in
marriage on Feb. 27, 1960, in Waukesha. After moving to Loyal in 1982, Carol
worked at Ditter Well Drilling until becoming employed with Citizens State Bank
of Loyal in 1988. She worked there for many years until retiring in 2009. Carol
also served on the Loyal City Council from October 2004 until April 2007, and
was the mayor of Loyal from May 2007 until May 2011. After retiring, they
resided in Loyal until moving to Marshfield in 2017. She was a member of the
Loyal United Methodist Church and spent many years organizing trips for the Key
Club when she was working for the bank in Loyal. Carol had many interests, but
especially loved spending time with her family, playing games, watching sports,
bowling, and playing bridge. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword
puzzles and crocheting. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, love of
laughter, and her ability to bring joy to everyone around her.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Lawrence, of Marshfield; three sons:
David (Lesli) of Wausau, Brian (Carla) of Downers Grove, Ill., and Jeff (Amber)
of New Berlin; five grandchildren: Bethany (Ryan) Cody, and Mathew, Christopher,
Maggie and Sarah Lampsa; one sister: Ruth Ann (Chuck) Fitt of Little Suamico;
one sister-in-law: Barbara Swattler of Naples, Fla.; and nieces, nephews, other
relatives and many friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Kenneth Swattler.
