As part of its focus on the community’s youth, the Neillsville Kiwanis Club is
pleased to name local senior students as Junior Kiwanians for each month of the
school year. Selected for February was Dayne Loberg, son of Tammy and Keith
Loberg. He was introduced to club members at the Feb. 14 meeting and will have
an opportunity to see the various functions of a community service club.
“An extensive list of academic, athletic and extracurricular activities are part
of this high-achieving student’s high school years,” Kiwanian Brent Shoup noted
in a Feb. 22 press release.
Loberg is a member of National Honor Society and FFA, has received academic
honors and has served on student council for four years and as a class officer
for three years. He is a member of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and
Math) Club and was part of a team that built a Rube Goldberg machine.
Additionally, he has played in pep band, all-conference band and the FFA Honors
Band. Loberg was named a Neillsville Optimist Outstanding Youth in 2018.
As a scholar-athlete, Loberg maintains a strong interest in baseball, in which
he has participated 15 years. He also enjoys basketball and hockey.
Loberg’s volunteer activities in the community include the Change of Seasons
Work Day, Christmas Angel Project, help with community garage sales and Dine to
Donate. He has also assisted with the Clark County Fair, serves in the
concession stand at sporting events and sings in the church choir.
Along with his active participation in spots, academics and extra-curriculars,
Loberg is employed part-time as a lifeguard at the Neillsville Recreation
Department, and by Schmitty’s on Main.
Following graduation, Loberg plans to attend UW-River Falls and pursue a major
in accounting or actuary sciences.
“The Neillsville Kiwanis Club is please to honor Dayne Loberg as its Junior
Kiwanian and wishes him success in his future endeavors,” Shoup wrote.
