Schwanebeck, Charles A. (20 July 1902 – 11 March 1981)

Funeral services for Charles A. Schwanebeck, 78, were held on Saturday afternoon, March 14, from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Sherwood. Schwanebeck, a Town of Sherwood resident, passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on March 11 after a brief illness.

Schwanebeck was born on July 20, 1902, in the Town of Sherwood to Herman and Amelia )Boeck) Schwanebeck. He received his education there. On May 27, 1926, he married Doris Davis in Pittsville ceremonies. The couple farmed in the Town of Sherwood until 1965, when he retired. (The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1976.)

Schwanebeck was a member of St. Paul’s congregation and served as a past secretary for the church board. He was also an honorary member of the Southern Clark County Sportsmen’s Club.

Surviving him besides his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. Albert (Lois) Hasz of Granton, Mrs. Edgar (Nona) Wilde of Cedarburg and Mrs. Herbert (Joyce) Ziebart of Brown Deer; two sons, Ivan and Wayne, both of Granton; a sister, Mrs. John (Elsie) Fluegel, Pittsville; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

The Rev. E. T. Keller officiated at the service with burial made in the township cemetery. Music was provided by Corrine and Rod Friedricksen and pallbearers were Leroy Hasz, John, Randy and Kenneth Schwanebeck, Keith Wilde and Gordon Zickert, all grandsons. The Hansen Funeral Home of Marshfield was in charge of arrangements.
