Sherman, Bertha (16 June 1892 – 5 March 1981)

Bertha Sherman, 89, Merrillan died Thursday, March 5, in the Neillsville Memorial Home where she had resided several years.

She was born June 16, 1892, to Mr. and Mrs. John Sollberger, Sr. in Iowa County. The family came to the Columbia area, Town of Hewett, when she was a young child. She attended school here and grew to womanhood in the Columbia area. On August 26, 1914, she married Leslie Sherman of Merrillan, where they lived their entire married lives.

She is survived by one son, Harvey, Merrillan and a sister, Frieda Baumel, of Buffalo Manor in Mondovi; and two brothers, William Sollberger of Columbia and Ernest Sollbe4rger of Athens. Her husband preceded her in death in January 1959.

Services were held Monday afternoon, March 9, at the Jensen Funeral Home, Hixton, with the Rev. Calvin Carey officiating. Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery, at Merrillan. Eastern Star Memorial services were held at the funeral home on Sunday evening.
