Residing at 1400 Seminole Ave., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, are newlyweds of Saturday,
December 30, 1972, Mr. and Mrs. Danne L. Mellenthin.
The former Miss Berna Jo M. Steines, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Steines,
Stratford, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon R. Mellenthin, Colby, were married
at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Richard A. osing at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa, where both had been residing.
The Urbana Swing Choir sang for the ceremony, and Robin Wagner was organist.
For her wedding, the bride selected a Venice lace and sata peau A-line gown with
train and shoulder length nylon veil secured to a Camelot headpiece. Her flowers
were cascade of white gardenias and stephanotis with holly leaves and berries.
In the bridal entourage were Miss Noreen Steines, Stratford, the maid of honor,
and Miss Jeanette Kaiser of Ellsworth, Mrs. Ross Machtan of Marshfield and Miss
Patsy Schoen, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the bridesmaids.
They donned long midnight blue velvet and white fur empire formals and matching
velvet headpieces complemented with two-tiered veil. Each aide had a fur muff.
Dale Mellenthin, Rockford, Illinois, was best man; Phil Ritter of St. Louis,
Missouri, Ken Baurmann, Detroit, Michigan, and Ron Mussman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa,
were groomsmen, and all four also served as ushers.
The wedding reception at 4 o’clock was held in the church basement, and dinner
was served at 5:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran School. The post reception took
place at 7:00 that evening in the east troom of the Roosevelt Hotel.
The new matron is a May 18, 1969 graduate of Viterbo College, La Crosse, and has
been a vocal music instructor at the Ubana Conservatory School, Urbana, Iowa.
Her husband, a teacher and youth director at Trinity Lutheran School and Church,
is a February 1969 graduate of Concordia College. St. Paul.
