WEST ALLIS -- Ten area farm families will be honored Wednesday at the Wisconsin
State Fair when they receive awards commemorating 100 years of continued
ownership of their farms by the same families.
Century farmers from Clark County are Gerald and Joyce Boie, Thorp; Delmer
Capelle, Loyal; Edwin Kubaskie, Humbird; Lucien and Evelyn Moh. Granton; and
Donald Will, Colby.
Marathon County award recipients include James and Sally Dennee, Stratford;
Raymond and Marlea Hein, Stratford; and Melvin and Ruth Juedes, Dorchester.
Walter Altman, Blenker, is Wood County's recipient and Ernest and Ruth Arndt,
Medford, are the century farmers farmers from Taylor County.
1983's 245 recipients represent 56 different counties. Pierce County has the
most century farms this year with 41. To qualify for the award, the 100th
anniversary of ownership must come prior to December 31. This means the family
had to own the property during 1883. Hillshire Farm Co., New London, sponsors
the century farm awards.
