ABBOTSFORD -- Sandy Westphal, of the Abbotsford Jaycette Chapter, has accepted
the local chairmanship for the state Jaycette priority project of the year, the
National Reye's Syndrome Foundation.
The Jaycettes plan to provide education about the disease, which strikes
children from infancy through adolescence who are recovering from a viral
infection such as chicken pox or flu.
The disease is fatal to about 30 percent of its victims and early diagnosis and
treatment is essential.
