The Rev. Alwyn L. York of Route 2, Greenwood, is pastor of Immanuel United
Church of Christ, Route 2, Greenwood, and Zion United Church of Christ, 301 S.
Main St. Greenwood. He located in Greenwood in August 1979 upon completion of
studies at Chicago Theological Seminary. York was born January 30 1953 in Amery.
He received his B.A. degree in 1975 from the University of Chicago and his
master of divinity degree in 1979 from Chicago Theological Seminary. On August
19, 1979 he was ordained at the Congregational Church in Amery. During seminary,
he preached one summer to campers and vacationers near Cable, did his internship
in Streator, Illinois, worked a summer as chaplain at the University of Chicago
Hospitals, was youth worker at Union Church of Hinsdale, Illinois, and presently
is working on a doctor of ministry degree from Denver University.
