Wiersig, Amelia (20 Nov 1887 – 13 Feb 1973)
Funeral services will be held Friday for Amelia Wiersig, 85, Colby, who died
early Tuesday morning at her home in Colby.
A funeral prayer will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, to be followed at the Zion
Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby beginning at 1
p.m. today (Thursday).
Mrs. Wiersig, the former Amelia Dins, was born on November 20, 1887, in the town
of Colby. On October 15, 1908 she married Walter Wiersig at Zion Lutheran Church
in Colby. Mr. Wiersig died in 1961.
The couple operated a cheese factor in the town of Hull for a short time and
then farmed in the town of Hull until 1915, when they moved to Colby. Her
husband was in the farm feed business until about 1950.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Zion Sewing Circle, and a member of
the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Eveline) Kobs, Colby, and Mrs.
Leslie (Erma) Johnson, Greenwood,a dn three sons, Raymond, Two Rivers, Kenhart
of Kenosha and Donald , Bray, Texas.
A total of fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive.
A son, two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
