Four From County (UW Farm Short Course - 1981)
Scott Fritz of Owen, Tom Hasz, of Granton, Dale Niemi of Withee and Marion
Richmond of Granton were among 131 recent graduates of the 1981 Farm and
Industry Short Course of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at
UW-Madison. Graduation cere monies were held in the UW-Madson Memorial Union on
March 15.
The graduates come from 43 Wisconsin counties, from Illinois and from
Switzerland, according to Maurice White, short course director.
The ceremonies marked the end of the 96th year of short course, a program
designed to prepare young people for careers in farming and industries related
to farming. This year students participated in nearly 50 courses in industry and
all phases of agriculture. The courses were offered for three five-week terms
that comprised the short course session.
Short course students can earn two, three or four year certificates.
White says 237 students attended at least one term this session, marking a new
enrollment high in the recent history of the program.
