Edward W. Haas, currently serving as assistant principal, has been named
principal of The Colby Junior-Senior High School for the 1973-74 school year. He
succeeds R. Reeves Schwartz, who will retire at the end of the current school
year.
Haas, a native of Rib Lake, is completing his tenth year in the Colby School
System, the last six of which have been in the position of assistant principal.
He is a graduate of Taylor County Teacher’s College and received his Bachelor’s
degree from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire in 1961. He was awarded his
Master’s degree in school administration in 1966 from Northern Colorado
University in Greeley, Colorado. Haas has subsequently taken additional course
work at Winona State College in Winona, Minnesota.
His teaching career stated in Hawkins, Wisconsin, and then in Bloomer, prior to
coming to Colby.
The newly named principal and his wife and two sons, Michael and Brian, reside
at Route 1, Abbotsford.
