Dettmann, Conrad E. (31 May 1900 – 17 Mar 1973)

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 21, 1973 at the United Church of Christ for Conrad Ernest Dettmann, 72, Colby, who died at the Colonial House of Colby Saturday, evening, March 17, 1973. He had been in ill health for the past five years.

The Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated, with burial in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Dettmann was born at Marinette on May 31, 1900. He married Minnie Westphal, who died shortly after. In 1935 he married Mary Lube, who preceded him in death in 1963. In October of that year, he married Agnes Schorer, who survives.

He moved to the Athens area when a young boy and worked in the lumber camps. For 13 years he worked at the Colby Cheese Box Company, and for 13 years was employed at the Streckert Manufacturing Company.

Mrs. Riley (Martha) Neuman, Colby; Mrs. John (Verna) Leicht, Wausau; Mrs. Roland (Leona) Roth, Abbotsford; Mrs. Lester (Norma) Schaeffer, Colby; Mrs. Joseph (Edna) Olson, Unity; Herbert Lube, Colby; Mrs. Carl (Alice Hankey, Harshaw; Mrs. Albert (Hilda) Genett, Spencer; Mrs. Lawrence (Nellie) Tlusty, Medford; Mrs. Berdet (Virginia0 McNaul, Chili; Verland Schorer, Colby; Mrs. Robert (Myrtle) Bunning, Danensburg, Michigan; Stella McCann, Germantown; Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Ohlinger, Abbotsford; Mrs. William (Grace) Knowles, Milwaukee, and William Schorer, Rockford, Illinois.

A total of 32 step-grandchildren and 28 step-great-grandchildren also survived, along with three brothers, Arnold Stratford; Rueben, Dorchester, and Harry, Hastings, Minnesota.

A sister and a brother preceded him in death.
