Schaefer, Mrs. Werner (14 May 1894 – 24 Mar 1973)
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 27, 1973 for Mrs. Werner Schaefer
Sr., age 79,, who died on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Services were held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Milan, with the Rev. Leonard
Stashek officiating, and burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were
Alan Burger, Jeffrey, Michael and Steven Schaefer, Lawrence Krizek and Thomas
Ahles, all grandchildren of Mrs. Schaefer.
Mrs. Schaefer was born on May 14, 1894 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. George Vessly. On November 28, 1916 she was married to Werner Schaefer
Sr. in Wurzburg. Mrs. Schaefer was the organist at St. Thomas Church for over
forty years
Survivors, besides her husband, include three sons: Werner Jr., Leslie and
Arnold; four daughters: Mrs. Ervin Bouse, Mrs. Joseph Burger, Mrs. William
Krizek, and Mrs. Florian Ahles; three brothers: Rudolph, Edward and Leo Vessly;
thirty nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
