Gluck, Col O. W. (Gluck Day – 20 April 1981)

Mayor Robert Lulloff of Neillsville has declared Monday, April 20, as “Colonel ‘Dimps’ Gluck Day” for the community.

The declaration comes on the day that the U.S. Army Field Band is scheduled for an evening concert in Neillsville. The concert will also be dedicated to the late Col. Gluck.

The mayor asked that citizens take a minute during Monday to reflect on Col. Gluck’s contributions to the community and the example he gave to other citizens.

Col. O. W. Gluck, affectionately known as “Dimps,” succumbed after a long battle with cancer a few weeks ago. He was well-known in the Neillsville community, especially for his efforts, the U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy bands have all made Neillsville one of their stops. For the U.S. Army Field Band, Monday’s performance is the third visit to the community in recent years.

The mayor stated that Gluck was civic minded and was “very interested in the community and how things worked.” He added that Gluck took on the responsibility of promoting the area and drawing cultural events to the community.
