Miss Kathryn Ann Jakel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jakel of Route 1, Curtiss,
was given in marriage by her father August 6 to Steven Wayne Katka, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Wayne Katka of Mellen.
The Rev. Raymond J. Pedretti officiated at the nuptials in St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Colby. Rhonda Buss was organist; Rob Olson, singer; and Deb Gregorich,
singer/guitarist.
The bride's white chiffon and chantilly lace over taffeta gown was complemented
by a fingertip veil and a bouquet of pink roses with baby's breath and ivy.
Her aides were Miss Mary Beth Jakel, Curtiss, maid of honor, and Mrs. Dean
Jannene of Fond du Lac, Miss Marie Kunze of Marshfield, Miss Sandy Suttner of
Curtiss and Miss Sharon Hanke, Wausau, the bridesmaids. Their lace formals were
in rainbow hues and each had a bouquet of long-stemmed roses.
Greg Katka of Mellen was best man. Groomsmen were Mark Young and Jim Landry of
Mellen, Al Bakke of Marshfield and Bob Graham, Park Falls, and ushering were
Paul Katka and Tom Jakel.
The reception, dinner and dance were at Curtiss Hall. After a cruise to the
Bahamas, the Katkas will live here at 2800 Holly Court.
The bride, a registered nurse graduated in 1977 from Abbotsford High School and
on May 24, 1980 from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. Her husband, who
works for Gator Cable Construction of Brookfield, graduated in 1976 from Mellen
High School, was in the U.S. Army from 1976-79 and attended the University of
Wisconsin Center, Mahfield-Wood County, for two years.
