Nine teenagers received $200 scholarships and 30 others won “A” Ratings in the
first annual University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point Writers’ Workshop for
Secondary Students.
The recent event in the College of Professional Studies Building was attended by
125 youth who received special invitations based on examples of their writing
entered for the competition.
The scholarships are for future use in defraying tuition costs while attending
the Stevens Point campus. Mukwonago High School dominated the contest with three
of the top awards going to youth from that school.
Carol Colby of Abbotsford, in a formal essay, was given an “A” rating and
certificate.
