The Rev. Daniel L. Ahrens of 260 Red Maple Road, Greenwood, became pastor of
Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood, in August 1980 after being out of the active
ministry for three years. He serves as a worker-priest and also conducts his own
business as an Amway distributor. Ahrens was born September 16, 1935 in Chicago.
After attending grade school in Detroit, he graduated in 1953 from Lutheran High
School in Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Indiana,
for two years and in 1955 began study at Concordia Seminary, Springfield,
Illinois, then served his year's vicarage to complete his ministerial studies
beginning August 1, 1958 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, and graduating
in June 1960 from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. His ordination took
place in 1960 at St. John's of Laona and Townsend beginning with his
installation July 3, 1960, he was pastor at Immanuel Lutheran, Marshfield, from
September 29, 1963 to January 30, 1966. He also served at St. John's Lutheran
Church, Forest Park, Illinois, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Birnamwood, and at
Zion Lutheran in Chicago before accepting his Greenwood post. He and his wife,
Marilyn, have four children, Mrs. Laura O'Connell and Timothy, Lisa and Matthews
Ahrens. He is affiliated with Trout Unlimited.
