Sterzinger, Dena (14 Jan 1885 – 2 May 1973)

Funeral services were held Friday, May 4, 1973 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, for Mrs. Joseph (Dena) Sterzinger, 88, who died Wednesday, May 2 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, after suffering a stroke.

The Rev. Francis Rushman officiated, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Sterzinger, the former Dean Hagelschur, was born at Kaukauna on January 14, 1885. On May 15, 1906 she married Joseph Sterzinger at St. Mary’s Church, Colby, and they lived on a farm in the town of Colby since then.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Christian Mothers.

Besides her husband, survivors include a son, Rudolph, Colby, and a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Margaret) Greaser, Oxford.

Other survivors include seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Hagelschur, Kenosha; for sisters, Barbara Hagelschur, Marshfield; Mrs. Anna Beattie, Mrs. John (Clara) Imoehl, and Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Lathrop, all of Milwaukee.

Three children, two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
