Gouda Team Takes Home First (2022)
Clark County’s very own Marieke Gouda cheese is handcrafted from fresh raw milk straight off the Penterman Farm right outside of Thorp. The business proudly touts a “True Farmstead Cheese” and they appear to have lived up to that claim as the took first place at the 2022 World Cheese Championship. Best in Class for flavored Gouda was local favorite Thorp Gouda shown above left. Also medaling in the contest was the young Gouda shown above right, which took home third place among Gouda cheeses less than four months old. The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association hosted the championship, which took place in Madison in early March.
