Scholarships for the 1974-74 academic year at the University of Wisconsin
Center, Marshfield-Wood County, have been accepted by two area students, Donald
Nelson, Route 1, Abbotsford, and Mary Greschener, Route 1, Owen.
Valued at $200 each, 18 academic awards were accepted by students. The
scholarship were awarded through the University Center Association and the
Student Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee after reviewing some 60 student
applications.
Nelson, who plans to major in computer science, was on the football, basketball,
baseball and track teams, a member of the Letter Club, Band, Choir, Jazz
Ensemble, Science Club, National Honor Society and the newspaper staff. He was
also active in dramatics and forensic, and the Superior Student Guidance Lab at
Abbotsford High School.
Miss Greschener was editor of the Owen-Withee High School annual, was on the
newspaper staff, played in the band, and was a Drama Club officer. She plans to
major in journalism.
