St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon was the setting of the May 26, 1973
wedding of Miss Diane Karlen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Karlen, Marathon,
and Daniel Krebsbach, son of Mr. and Ms. Raymond Krebsbach, Route one, Colby.
Father Lloyd Geissler conducted the 1:30 p.m. ceremony, and Miss Beverly Schmidt
of Stetsonville was the vocalist, and Scott Stieber of Marathon the organist.
For her wedding day the bride chose a Schiffli embroidery and organza over satin
gown with long fitted sleeves, molded bodice, raise waist, gathered skirt with
Schiffli ruffle edge and cathedral sweep train.
Attending the bride were Mrs. David Cernaski, Mosinee; Mrs. George Lemmer,
Marathon, sister of the bride; Mrs. Allan Ridderbusch, Bay City, sister of the
groom; Miss Sandra Krebsbach, Pulaski, sister of the groom, and Miss Debra
Karlen, Marathon, sister of the bride.
The bridal attendants wore red and white plaid flared skirts with navy sash and
navy buttons on white lace bodice. They wore white straw hats with navy ribbon
and carried a single long stemmed red and white rose.
The groom’s attendants were Terry Schraufnagel, Colby; George Lemmer, Marathon;
Allen Ridderbusch, Bay City; Dale Krebsbach, Colby, brother of the groom; and
Dennis Karlen, Edgar, cousin of the bride.
A reception and dance were held at the Poplar Tree Ballroom in Marathon, and
supper at St. Mary’s School hall.
The bride is a graduate of Marathon High School and is employed by American
Family Insurance in Wausau. Her husband is a graduate of Colby High School and
is employed as a roadman for Marathon County DHIA.
The couple will be making their home at 614 ½ Division Street in Wausau.
