Schemenauer, Alma M. (1887? – 7 Jun 1973)
Funeral services for Mrs. Alma M. Schemenauer, who died June 7, 1973 at the age
of 85, were held Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wuerzburg.
Rev. Jacob Brugraff, St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, Rev. Leonard Stasek,
St. John’s, and Rev. Frank Rushman, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby,
officiated at the services. Burial was made in St. John’s Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Don Kaiser, Joe Kremsreiter, Marvin Ohlinger, Leroy
Schillinger, Ken Schemenauer and Elmer Schemenauer.
Honorary pallbearers were the ladies of St. Mary’s Altar Society.
Mrs. Schemenauer, the former Alma Radlinger, was born October 1, 1887 in
Whitelaw. Coming to the Athens area in 1896, she spent her entire life there
until moving to the Colonial House in Colby. She received her education in the
Athens schools. On April 30, 1907 she married Anton Schemenauer in St. Anthony’s
Catholic Church at Athens. She was a member of St. Joh’s Catholic Church and St.
Mary’s Altar Society.
Surviving are two sons, Elmer of Route 2, Athens, and Gilbert, also Route 2,
Athens; three daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Amanda) Kaiser, Colby, Mrs. Rudy
(Caroline) Schillinger, Spencer, and Mrs. John (Rose) Kremstreiter, Route 2,
Athens; a sister, Mrs. William Klein of Milwaukee; 21 grandchildren, and 67
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, two brothers and four
sisters.
