Mrs. Ida Leona Specht, 77, Argonne, died Saturday afternoon in Crandon Nursing
Home.
She was born in 1896 in Edgar and came to Crandon from New Lisbon in 2946. She
had been a factory worker in the canning industry.
The former Ida Steen married Frank L. Specht in 1915 and he preceded her in
death in 1958.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elden (Millie) Viets, Colby, and Mrs.
Duane (Mary) Chaney, Argonne; three sons, Gordon, Madison, Claude, Oshkosh, and
Melvin, Rhinelander; three sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Mildred) Dettinger, Wausau,
Mrs. (Viola) Eden, Athens, and Mrs. Cecil Corpion, Fort Atkinson; four brothers,
Ira Steen, Olympia Washington, Melvin of the state of Oregon, and Orin, Argonne;
twenty grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Specht was a member of the Patsy Shay VFW in Canton.
The funeral was held June 12, 1973 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Crandon. Burial was in Crandon Lakeside Cemetery.
She was well known in the Colby, Athens and Edgar area.
