Smith, Delmar W. (4 May 1910 – 29 Jun 1973)

Delmar William Smith, 63, of Colby, died Friday, June 29, 1973 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient for the past seven weeks following a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Presbyterian Church in Jump River, and burial was made in the Mount Nebo Cemetery, Jump River.. Rev. Winifred Lomas officiated at the service and the Hemer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith was born May 4, 1910 at Jump River, the son of Oscar and rose Smith. He received his education in the Jump River schools. On September 24, 1932 he was married to Edythe Yoder, who survives him. They lived and farmed in the Gilman area until 1944, when they moved to a farm in the twon of Deer Creek, near Stetsonville. In 1958 he moved to Colby and was employed by the Wiesner Construction Company of Superior until 1965, when he joined the Mathy Construction Company of La Crosse.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Delmar G., Medford, and Clarence, Owen; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Iva) Abegglan, Abbotsford, and Mrs. Charlotte Hendricks, Madison; three brothers, Chester and Leo, Jump River, and Clarence, Hamilton, Montana; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Crystal) Wise, Parker, S.D., and Mrs. Elmer (Hazel) Schwock, Conrad, Montana; and fifteen grandchildren.
