Elizabeth M. Heindl, 81, Abbotsford, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield
at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 1973. Funeral services were at 10:30 today
(Thursday), at St. Louis Church at Dorchester, with burial in Dorchester
Memorial Cemetery.
The Most Rev. F.W. Freking, Bishop of the La Crosse Diocese, will officiated a
the Mass with her two priest sons, the Rev. Francis Heindl, La Crosse, and the
Rev. Arthur Heindl, Lim Ridge, as concelebrants. Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home was
in charge.
The former Elizabeth Leonhard was born November 30, 1891 at Hewitt. She received
her education in the Hilltop School near Dorchester. She was married January 23,
1912 to Nicholas Heindl at St. Louise Church. They farmed in the Town of Holton.
He died on May 11, 19765. She continued to live on the farm until 1971, when she
went to live in Abbotsford. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in
Abbotsford, and of the Rosary Altar Society of St. Louis Church of Dorchester.
Besides the two priest sons, survivors include three other sons, Bernard,
Abbotsford, and Urban and James, Town of Holton; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence
(Helen) Riegert, Marshfield; three brothers, Fred and Peter Leonhard,
Marshfield, and Edward Leonhard, Waukesha; one sister, Mrs. O’Delia Gannon,
Vancouver, Washington; and eleven grandchildren.
One son and two sisters preceded her in death.
