Jay E. Block, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Block, route 2, Colby, has been
accepted by the Brown Institute, a radio and TV broadcasting school in
Minneapolis. He will begin classes August 6, 1973.
Brown Institute is the only school of its kind in the upper Midwest, admitting
only students who show a high degree of professionalism. Jay was one of twelve
students to meet entrance requirements by passing a pronunciation test, voce and
vocabulary tests, as well as grades and high school records. Block has also had
on-th-air experience at radio stations WLOT in Marinette and WRFW in River
Falls.
Jay has indicated an interest in disc jockey and music director positions in
radio and TV weatherman. He is a 1973 graduate of Colby High School and
graduated from a summer broadcasting workshop at the University of Wisconsin,
River Falls in 1972.
