GRANTON -- Wade Pettit, a Granton High School student, participated this summer
in the Student Conservation Association, where he participated in work projects
for the national Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service.
Pettit was in a high school work group at Voyageur's National Park in Minnesota.
Projects completed included resurfacing hiking trails, decreasing the slope of a
hill trail and laying planking on muddy trail areas.
The Student Conservation Association is a national conservation program which
annually offers nearly 550 positions to high school students ages 16-18. Groups
are co-educational and comprised of 6-12 students.
