Meyer, Ben M. (09 August 1920 - 06 September 1983)
Ben M. Meyer, 90, of Chippewa Falls, a Colby native, died there Tuesday at
Rutledge Home for the Aged, where he had resided since April.
Services will be Friday at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Forest Hill
Cemetery, both in Chippewa Falls. Visitation will be at the Pederson-Volker
Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls.
He was born in Colby and married Ruby Bunker August 9, 1920 in Monfort. He
graduated from Oshkosh Sate Normal School, Stout Institute and the University of
Madison. He started teaching in 1915 in West Allis. He joined the Chippewa Falls
school system in 1920 and was appointed director of the vocational school in
1923, holding that post until retiring in 1962. He served with the U.S. Army
during World War I, and in 1935 was appointed National Youth Administration
Supervisor for the federal government.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Myrna Jean Kurth of Chippewa Falls; two
brothers, Frank of Colby and Don of Seattle, Washington; three sisters, Lillian
Hall and Mildred Bailey, both of Seattle and Amy Schuette of Neenah; two
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
