After a wedding trip to Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gonnering, the former JoAnn
Lucille Pflanzer, will be making their first home on West Cedar Street in
Abbotsford.
They were married in a candlelight ceremony Friday evening, July 27, 1973 at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. Rev. Rushman performed the ceremony, and music
was provided by the soloist and guitarist, Janice Patrick, and the organist was
Mrs. Gabriel.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Pflanzer of Colby, and Mrs.
Clarence Gonnering, also of Colby.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared at the altar in a floor
length princess style gown of satin and Venetian lace trim with high neckline,
long puffed sleeves and matching lace edge mantilla. She carried a cascade
bouquet of white and orchid daisies.
Miss Linda Lou Pflanzer of Stevens Point attended the bride as maid of honor.
She and the bridesmaid, Mrs. Janice Reis, Mrs. Leon Gonnering and Mrs. Geraldine
Pflanzer were attired in floor length gowns of sheer dotted fluff nylon with
empire waist. They carried bouquets of white and orchid daisies.
Gerald Gonnering of Dorchester served as best man, and Leon Gonnering, Gerald
Pflanzer and Russell Reis were groomsmen. Frank Archambo and Robert Gonnering
seated the guests.
Following the ceremony the couple was honored at a reception, dinner and dance
at the Colby Hotel.
Mrs. Gonnering is a 1972 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Steven Point.
She has been employed as a second grade teacher in Stratford. Her husband
graduated in 1966 from Wausau Technical Institute. He is a purchasing agent for
Wick Building Systems in Spencer.
